This Privacy Policy describes how Sumy ("we", "our", or "the app") handles your information when you use our mobile application.
Sumy does not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. An anonymous device identifier is used only to maintain your local preferences and history within the app.
Sumy lets you summarize content by scanning physical documents with your camera, importing photos from your library, or uploading PDF files. The text and images you submit are used solely to generate summaries for you and are not used for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.
To generate summaries, the text or image content you submit is sent to our secure processing service and to third-party AI providers that perform text extraction and summarization. Your content is processed in memory to create the summary and is not retained on our servers after the request is completed.
Your previous summaries and scan history are stored locally on your device so that you can revisit them later. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it. You can clear your history at any time from within the app.
Sumy requests access to your camera so you can scan physical documents, and to your photo library so you can import existing images. These permissions are used only when you actively trigger a scan or import. We do not access your camera or photo library in the background.
We use third-party services to provide text recognition (OCR) and AI-powered summarization. These providers process the content you submit on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy and data handling practices.
You can clear your history and remove all locally stored data at any time directly from within the app. Since we do not collect personally identifiable information, no identity verification is required.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when it was last revised.
